Avatar Coming back to theaters... In surprise 3D

Not that anyone is actually shocked by this or wasn't already expecting it. Fox has announced that the ridiculously over rated James Cameron flick Avatar will be re-released into Digital 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on August 27 with over 8 minutes of never before seen footage, yay!

"Since - and largely as of result of - Avatar's release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity," the studio said.

The award winning smurfs on steroids pulled in 2.7 billion in their first run, and went on to be the highest selling blu ray of all time as well. Which in some ways makes no sense with out the mind blowing 3D experience what does the generic story really have to offer in regular 2D, even if it is in high definition.

They're calling this an opportunity for people that didn't see it in 3D the first time or people that loved it that much to enjoy it again how it was intended to be seen. But I'm calling this plain old greed, they don't give a rats ass about any of that, this is about pushing it over the 3 billion mark.

Just when you thought Hollywood might learn their lesson with live action 3D with all the recent backlash comes this great news. The overrated generic plot that started the widely over used and burnt out trend will remind all of the execs why they're converting everything to 3D for the extra 5 bucks at the box office.

Even Harold and Kumar and Step Up are going 3D... why no one knows. All we can really do is say thank you James Cameron!

Chris Columbus Directing Superman?

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...Chris Columbus?!?

Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures has been keeping developing on Superman: The Man of Steel down to a faint pulse. All we really know is Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas will produce and David Goyer is writing for a Christmas 2012 release.

If Superman Homepage is to be believed, Columbus (whose career went from being Spielberg's Golden Boy screenwriter in the 80s to kick-starting the Harry Potter franchise a decade ago) is WB's helmer of choice. Well he certainly fits the "type" of filmmaker they’d be going after – more inclined to take orders from the studio than say a Michael Bay or Bryan Singer type.

Assuming this is legit; would he do the material truth, justice and the American way? He's an admitted comic-book fan – his name was attached to Daredevil and Fantastic Four during the 90s.

Not to mention, it'd truthfully be an upgrade from his post-Potter filmography – the "Eh..." received film-version of Rent, the abysmal I Love You, Beth Cooper and his most recent ill-fated attempt at launching another fantasy series-turned-effects heavy franchise Percy Jackson.

The sooner they finalize a director (Remember that court ruling mandated they have to be rolling cameras next year), the closer we can get to finding out the identity of our new Last Son of Krypton.

Billy Loomis Takes A Stab At "Law & Order: LA"

The newest Law & Order spinoff has cast their first major role. Skeet Ulrich, best known by me for his role in "Scream" as Billy Loomis has been selected to play one of the two lead detectives according to THR.

Not bad casting to be honest, Ulrich can act a little, although he has more of a "bad guy" vibe to him. It will be interesting to see him as a lead on the good side of the fence. The handful of people that actually watched "Jericho" will probably be geeked up.

"Law & Order: Los Angeles" or LOLA, will begin production towards the end of this month. Big shoes to fill, considering the original "Law & Order" was canceled this past season after 20 years on the air.

Betty White Is Still "Hot In Cleveland"

My lady Betty White continues to kick all kinds of ass. From "Saturday Night Live" to putting 4.8 million asses in the seats for her new show "Hot In Cleveland", Lady White is bringing it.

According to THR, TV Land's "Hot In Cleveland" is going to been seen on the network for a second season. The show is produced by Sean Hayes, the more "flamboyant one" in "Will & Grace".

Here is what the President of TV Land, Larry W. Jones had to say about the success of the show and the upcoming season:

"We are so excited that 'Hot in Cleveland' was embraced by viewers in such a big way. We absolutely love the show and can't wait to see what hilarious new experiences these characters will encounter."

The only remaining "Golden Girl" is not sitting still, heck I was just watching a re-run of "The Middle" and she was playing a librarian.

New Clip 'salt'

Columbia Pictures along with Yahoo have released the new trailer for the Angelina Jolie Spy Thriller Salt. I know I'm not the only one that thinks this looks all kinds of awesome, but I still can't figure out why. This seems to be Jolies "thing", but for some reason it hasn't gotten old yet, at least not for me anyways. I don't know if its because she's such a great actress or I just love to watch her run and jump around, I really have no idea.

CIA officer Evelyn Salt (Jolie) swore an oath to duty, honor and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: "Who Is Salt?"

New Machete Poster

The movie that never should have been made but actually was, is starting to ramp up their marketing. Chud's got their hands on the first of what's sure to be a slew of posters for Robert Rodriguez's new flick Machete.

I can't say that I'm honestly all that interested in this, but it has Robert DeNiro who also happens to be featured in the surprisingly bad ass poster below, so I may have to give it a chance after all.

Machete is set for release on September 3, 2010.
