The "Paranormal Activity 4" Trailer, Finally!

After teasing the Paranormal Activity 4 trailer for days the trailer is FINALLY here, and I have to say it delivers. Looking forward to being scared out of my mind in a dark theater.

Like the previous films before it, Paramount Pictures is running a contest to allow the fans to bring the movie to their city first, this time it involves 25 cities across the world. Trailer courtesy of ComingSoon.Net and press release below.

Fans of "PARANORMAL ACTIVITY" are being empowered to bring the movie to their city first.  Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., will debut the fourth installment in the popular horror franchise exclusively in 25 cities around the world by encouraging fans to vote to see it first with a new "Want It" application on Facebook.

Facebook's 955 million global fans can vote for an advance screening in their city by clicking on the "Want It" button on the film's fan page at www.Facebook.com/ParanormalActivity.
"Want It" is a dynamic application utilizing Facebook's open graph technology that gives fans the opportunity to vote to bring the franchise to their city and leverage their social networks to ensure they are one of the top 25 winning locations.  The application recognizes a fan's geo-location according to their Facebook profile and automatically registers a vote to bring the film to their city first.  Votes will be shared on a fan's page and automatically posted to the Facebook newsfeed to rally their peers to bring the film to their city first too.

The application feeds individual votes into a dynamic leader board that shows the ranking of every city in real time.  Audiences can track the top cities as well as the ranking of their own city as well as push out reminders encouraging friends to vote.  "Want It" brings an unprecedented level of interactivity for fans in determining screenings of the movie.

"There's a very special connection between 'PARANORMAL ACTIVITY' and Facebook," said Matt Jacobson, head of market development at Facebook. "Four years after the initial success of the franchise and the establishment of a passionate fan community, we're excited to see continued iteration on a franchise that was born on Facebook. Paramount is using both the Facebook platform and media to drive awareness of the film, three months out, and we will continue to drive awareness and intent at scale as we approach opening weekend in October."

"The success of 'PARANORMAL ACTIVITY' began with the fans who have championed the movie franchise from the very beginning through social media," said Amy Powell, Executive Vice President of Interactive Marketing. "Now we're creating an even more dynamic experience among the film's community of fans and for the first time, we're giving them an opportunity to go head-to-head on Facebook with fans around the world to determine the 25 cities who get to see 'PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4' before it opens."

Fans can also vote at the film's website, www.ParanormalMovie.com.

The 25 cities that receive the most votes will win a free screening of the eagerly awaited film before it hits theaters October 19, 2012.

"PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4" is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.

Hobbit 3D Glasses Look Cool – That'll Justify the Blatant Cash-Grab, Right?

From HobbitFilm.it (via Coming Soon) is the special Middle-Earthized 3D specs you'll get this Christmas for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I've made my piece with how cynical this trilogy decision is, no matter the spin from Warner Brothers and Peter Jackson. Doesn't mean I have to like it or will quietly shut up. Oh no, they're gonna squeeze every penny from our pockets for what should have been one, three-hour movie into three, long movies over the next three years. That gives me carte blanche to call em out.

Oh yeah, the glasses look cool.

"The Avengers" Blu-ray/DVD 'Working Together" Clip

Say whatever the hell you want about The Avengers but it was really entertaining. Sure the pacing was off and some of the dialogue was amateur, but I enjoyed it so much more than I could have imagined. The characters really meshed well together, the action was mind bending, and there was actually a lot of heart.

In anticipation for The Avengers DVD/Blu-ray, which will be released on September 25th, Marvel has released five clips from the film. Below is my favorite one, showing off all of the heroes in action

Olympic Inspired "ParaNorman" TV Spot

Some of the Olympic crossover commercials are fairly lame. I could have sworn I saw a Burger King one with giant eleventeen thousand ounce cups filled with soda wearing USA Olympic Basketball shirts or something. It might have been a bad dream.

The ParaNorman TV spot works though. A corpse going all out gymnast on a horse like a champion. Yeah, that works for me.

"Paranormal Activity 4" Continues To Tease The Trailer

This has become some kind of epidemic. First Peter Jackson and The Brothers Warner decide that splitting a rather small book into not two films, but three, is a good idea. Then we're getting three separate teasers, not for a movie, not for a movie, for a trailer. I think the Mayans were right, the world is coming to an end.

After dropping a teaser of the upcoming trailer earlier in the week, Paramount Pictures has released two more teasers for Paranormal Activity 4. All of my annoying ranting aside, I came in late to the party on this series, but I do love me some Paranormal. Check out the two teasers below.

James Franco Going to 'Homefront'

Looks like James Franco is making a little more room on his already full plate.

The well-known actor/writer/soon-to-be director/student - and whatever else there is to be - has joined the cast of the Sylvester Stallone scripted, Homefront, alongside action-star Jason Statham.

Homefront will be directed by Gary Fleder (Kiss the Girls, Runaway Jury) through Avi Lerner's production company, Millennium Films.

The flick - set to start filming this fall - centers on the character of Phil Broker (Statham) who after a career as a DEA agent, moves his family to a quiet town hoping to escape his violent past of combating crime.  However, Broker soon finds his new town overrun with corruption and drug trafficking, led by the villainous Gator (Franco), an evil meth magnate.  To protect the ones he loves, Broker must jump back into action.

Avi Lerner had this to say regarding the film:

"I cannot think of a better group to put this film on the big screen.  Sly's script is fantastic, James and Jason are remarkable actors and Gary really knows how direct this type of film. We start production at the end of September in New Orleans."

Even though the plot sounds like just another standard shoot-em-up action film, I'm actually rather excited for this one.  Franco is as versatile an actor as they come and Stallone seems to be turning Statham into himself for a new generation, having him star in his own scripts he probably would have done himself years ago.

Maybe Sly will give himself a nice little cameo for the film.

Homefront will likely hit theaters late next year.

Skyfall Trailer

I'll do everyone a favor and shut up. For once.

Enjoy the epic trailer for Skyfall from Yahoo! Movies. There's also an international trailer. But there isn't much difference. Pick your poison. I am now officially jealous of those who get to see this in October.

New "Total Recall" International TV Spot

“Total Recall” is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vaction from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

"Taken 2" Trailer

I was satisfied when I left the theater after seeing Taken. I had no want or need to see the expansion of this universe, it's characters were left in a comfortable place. I guess success can sometimes change things. The movie did so well that the studio wanted to launch a sequel to the surprise hit.

I'm a more of a "leave well enough alone", kind of guy, but upon viewing the trailer there looks to be plenty of badassery left in Liam Neeson's arsenal even if his daughter is tagging along this time.

Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim (Grace) from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge, and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.

Welcome Back, Wolverine!

After far too many delays to count, The Wolverine finally begins filming this week.  Australia's 7News has some footage of the set, which appears to be a World War II-era prison camp.  No reported sightings of a clawed-and sideburned Hugh Jackman yet (although he did post a picture of his first-day-of-shooting breakfast on Twitter this morning), but we can see some extras running around and reaction from the locals about the movie being filmed on their beach.

I love how someone just figured they were shooting The Hobbit.  In addition to the Australia shoot, the movie will be filming scenes in Japan as well.

The Wolverine will open in theaters on July 26, 2013.
