New 'The Dark Knight Rises' Blu-ray Clip Shows Anne Hathaway's Fight Preparation

There's been a surprising number of behind-the-scenes clips coming out for the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of The Dark Knight Rises.  I say surprising because Christopher Nolan is well-known to not be a fan of 'Making Of' type segments as he feels it takes away from the magic of movies.

"Better to not know how it was done, just enjoy the film."

With that comes a new clip of the crew discussing Anne Hathaway's preparation to play Selina Kyle (ala Catwoman) and the type of fight choreography that went into the details of her character:

The Dark Knight Rises hits Blu-ray/DVD December 4th.

"Man Of Steel" Exclusive By Sharing "The Dark Knight Rises" DVD & Blu-ray Countdown

The Brothers Warner are dipping into their back of viral marking tricks for the release of The Dark Knight Rises DVD & Blu-ray. If you share the countdown you will be greeted with what WB is calling an "Exclusive Reward" from the upcoming Man Of Steel flick.

Our own Jamie Williams is guessing that it is a photo of Zod, which seems about right. I would guess it is Superman in action, whether it be fighting Zod in Metropolis or saving the day in Smallville. What do you think it is?

Share the countdown below to find out.

New Trailer for 'Jack the Giant Slayer'

Never sure what to think of a film when it's delayed.  Definitely not sure what to think of a film when it's delayed nearly a year even though an initial trailer had already been released as well as a slight title change.

That is the case though with Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Slayer (formerly Killer) which was to be released last June only to be pushed to March 1st, 2013.  It's a new take on the classic 'Jack and beanstalk' fairy tale.

You be the judge:

"Jack the Giant Slayer tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself."

Disney Wants Lawrence Kasdan on Star Wars Episode VIII

UPDATE: THR reports the deals are closed. Kasdan and Kinberg will write and produce the sequels.

How excited should we be for Star Wars: Episode VIII and IX?

Episode VII remains without a director, cast or release date, save for a vague 2015 promise. Disney went high-class hiring Oscar-winner Michael Arndt. That hasn't stopped them from lining up additional scribes.

Per "TOLDJA," the House of the Mouse (turned House of the Force) is rumored to be commissioning Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg for the latter chapters of the third Star Wars trilogy.

Yes, that Lawrence Kasdan.

The man responsible for The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The screenwriter (later an accomplished director in his own right) who penned the greatest sequel of all-time and greatest action/adventure film could return to the universe he helped to steer as George Lucas handed responsibility to he and director Irvin Kershner.

It sounds on the "too good to be true" side. Not my believing Kasdan being approached (No doubt he has), but if his return to that galaxy far, far away is a good idea. Not the same guy who wrote the Star Wars sequels thirty-plus years ago. So you can't expect the same results. Just setting yourself up for disappointment, though it's interesting Disney and producer Kathleen Kennedy want him for the middle chapter when everything goes to Hell. Just like in The Empire Strikes Back. Not a coincidence, folks.

I Guess It's Down to Jon Favreau? Brad Bird NOT Directing 'Star Wars'

Considering pretty much every director listed as in the running to direct the new Star Wars film has now said no - from Speilberg, to Tarantino, to Abrams, to now Brad Bird - I guess that leaves Jon Favreau as the last man standing?

Contrary to much fan support, Academy Award winner Brad Bird will NOT be directing the new Star Wars film, straight from the horses mouth himself.

Bird had this to say on Twitter:

Brad Bird ‏@BradBirdA113

@rsavenell: You are on people’s lists as top choice for Star Wars, yet haven’t confirmed. Please end this tease!” Not doing Star Wars.

@ClarkGoble: tell me your next one is the new Star Wars!” Nope. A science fiction film. Not Star Wars.

@JoesMonster@wearebuffaloz Is it Star Wars Episode VII? Because I really hope it’s Star Wars Episode VII…” It’s not Episode VII.

@GeoffBreedwell: You’re not doing EP7? Why not? You’re perfect for it!” Thanks. But the science fiction film I AM doing is gonna be cool.

@gregaveryowens: Totally just saw @BradBirdA113 slam Star Wars. Brilliant!” I’m not slamming Star Wars. I’m just doing “1952″! Sheesh!

That said, Michael Arndt is a fantastic writer and Kathy Kennedy is a brilliant producer. I will be first in line to see the new STAR WARS.

As much as people can wonder why a director would not want to direct Star Wars, it's more so why would they want to direct it?  It's an extremely daunting task and one left better for someone else to stress over because it can either be a career maker or career suicide.

I guess we'll find out soon enough who gets the job.

Weekend Box Office: November 16-18

Courtesy of Box Office Mojo:

1.  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 - $141.3 million

2.  Skyfall - $41.5 million

3.  Lincoln - $21 million

4.  Wreck-It Ralph - $18.3 million

5.  Flight - $8.6 million

6.  Argo - $4 million

7.  Taken 2 - $2.1 million

8.  Pitch Perfect - $1.26 million

9.  Here Comes the Boom - $1.2 million

10.  Cloud Atlas/The Sessions/Hotel Transylvania - $900,000

The box office report is back!  No thanks to Hurricane Sandy, for playing all kinds of havoc with the power and internet access these last few weeks.  So we've definitely got some catching up to do.

First things first:  the final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn Part 2, opened big this weekend with an estimated $141.3 million.  No, it's not a *record*...but who's going to gripe about $141.3 million?  The opening falls right in between Breaking Dawn Part 1's $138.1 million opening last year, and New Moon's $142.8 million opening in 2009.  Overseas, Breaking Dawn Part 2 has earned nearly $200 million already, bringing its worldwide total to $340 million and climbing, with the long holiday weekend coming up this week.  Whether you like the Twilight series or not, there's no denying that its been a powerhouse at the box office.

Catching up with James Bond, Skyfall racked up another $41.5 million in its second weekend, bringing its domestic total up to $161.3 million.  Overseas, the latest 007 film has been a massive blockbuster, earning $507 million in foreign markets so far.  Back here, Skyfall is within a few days of passing Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale to become the highest-grossing James Bond film domestically.  And deservedly so - it was awesome.

Also catching up Wreck-It Ralph, which has been a nice hit for Disney, the animated video-game adventure crossed the $100 million mark this week, earning $18.3 million in its third weekend.  With excellent word-of-mouth, it should be able to hold its own against Rise of the Guardians, which opens in theaters next weekend.

Amongst movies brave enough to open against Twilight this weekend, Steven Spielberg's Lincoln expanded into wide release well with $21 million.  In limited release, Silver Linings Playbook opened with $458,000 and Anna Karenina with $315,000 - both in just 16 theaters apiece.

Lots of new choices coming up for the long holiday weekend, including:  Life of Pi, Rise of the Guardians, Red Dawn, and Hitchcock.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Now You See Me Trailer

This looks like slick fun from former Hulk helmer Louis Leterrier but it seems to be more sci fi fused than I was expecting unless I have misread the trailer. What is for sure is that Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson look to be on form alongside their young hipster co-stars.

NOW YOU SEE ME pits an elite FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against "The Four Horsemen," a super-team of the world's greatest illusionists. "The Four Horsemen" pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders during their performances, showering the stolen profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law.

The Heat Trailer

No this is not a documentary about the Miami basketball team and their filthy rich players, it's a new Sandra Bullock comedy that is essentially Miss Congeniality 3 in disguise.

In truth I have always had a huge soft spot for Miss Congeniality and while this isn't a sequel it does look better than the actual sequel they made, but it still looks pretty weak.

First Two TV Spots for 'Jack Reacher'

This.  Looks.  Kick.  Ass.

Not only am I a huge Tom Cruise fan but I've read the Lee Childs' book this film is based on (One Shot) and every scene looks stripped straight from the pages.

Awesome.

For any person doubting Tom Cruise in this role, hopefully this starts to change your mind:

On The Road Trailer

My cynicism says that if it looks like Oscar bait and smells like Oscar bait the chances are it's.....well time will tell I guess.

This doesn't interest me in the slightest but the book is groundbreaking apparently so check it out for yourselves. One interesting aspect will be Kristen Stewart, a young actress who has weathered a lot of hate for her role in Twilight but whom I believe is a decent actress.

Dean and Sal are the portrait of the Beat Generation. Their search for "It" results in a fast paced, energetic roller coaster ride with highs and lows throughout the U.S.
