    "Trance" Trailer From Danny Boyle

In the film, fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction. When Simon double-crosses the gang during the robbery, Franck retaliates violently and knocks him unconscious.

In the aftermath of the heist, Simon sticks stubbornly - and perhaps shrewdly - to his claim that the violent trauma has left him with no memory of where he stashed the artwork.

Unable to coerce the painting's location from Simon, Franck and his associates reluctantly join forces with a charismatic hypnotherapist (Dawson) in a bid to get him to talk. But as they journey deeper into Simon's jumbled psyche the boundaries between reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur and the stakes rise faster and far more dangerously than any of the players could have anticipated.

Sony Pictures Finds Director for 'Goosebumps' Film; Hollywood Continues to Rape 90s Childhood

I never would have thought when I was watching R.L. Stine's Goosebumps TV series as a kid that one day it would be made into a feature-film.

Though I never thought the kid from the Say Cheese and Die would go on to become Ryan Gosling so stranger things have happened.

Sony Pictures announced a while back that they were looking to make the popular young-adult book series from the 1990s into a movie and it looks like they've finally found a director in Rob Letterman (Monsters Vs Aliens, Shark Tale).

I've never seen any of his films but from what I read, he's a great choice and should do something fun and original.

No word on if the film will be based on a specific book (The Haunted Mask anyone?) or something else entirely but expect more news in the coming months.

Meanwhile, I'll wait until they announce the feature-film adaption of Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Hugh Jackman to Headline Unintentional OCD Thriller Six Years

A new "Best Seller" titled Six Years is out today and Showbiz being what it is; some executive at some studio (Paramount) either read a galley or merely the plot synopsis and thought "Hey women love Hugh Jackman! They'll accept this otherwise Restraining Order attitude!" and eureka it's in development.

    Here's the aforementioned breakdown:

"Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd.

But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for . . . but she is not Natalie. Whoever the mourning widow is, she’s been married to Todd for more than a decade, and with that fact everything Jake thought he knew about the best time of his life—a time he has never gotten over—is turned completely inside out.

As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart—and who lied to him—soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on carefully constructed fiction."

Remember that Simpsons episode where Marge gets turned on at the thought of Mel Gibson (back when his bigotry was kept under the radar)? That's how your wife thinks of Jackman. Accept it and move on, pal.

    Bruce Wayne Enjoying His Retirement

Christian Bale can't quit those wacky weight regimes. He made headlines for years touting the fatalistic reduction he put on himself for The Machinist and turning around in the span of a month suiting up as Batman; superhero muscles and all. Going to the extreme ends to lose serious pounds or gain mass will eventually catch up to you. Just ask Russell Crowe's metabolism.

Until he's forced to stop, he's not going to put down the dumbbells or, in this case, that slice of pepperoni with extra cheese. The Daily Mail has snapshots of Bale on the set of the untitled second collaboration with helmer David O. Russell, who directed Bale to his "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar for The Fighter. Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Jenny Renner co-star.

Cut to that EPK footage of Bale saying, "Is this Batman or Fatman?"

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" Gets Criminal With Ravencroft

I really enjoyed Bryan Singer's Video Blogs during the production of Superman Returns. I think it is nice to keep the fans interested during news lulls with behind the scenes photo and videos. Apparently director Marc Webb and the crew behind The Amazing Spider-Man 2 feel the same.

The director has been tweeting various photos during the The Amazing Spider-Man shoot tantalizing the rabid fanboys with nods to Rhino, and now his latest tweet, which features a photo of the Ravencroft Institute For The Crimnally Insane.

I'm guessing this is where Dr. Connors aka The Lizard ended up, but just a hunch. Seems very similar to Arkham Asylum if you ask me. Photo below.

'Hansel and Gretel' sequel is inevitable

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters turned out to be a surprise hit for Paramount Pictures and MGM this past January (after being pushed back from its original March 2012 date). With a robust $205 million in the coffers -- 2/3's of that was made internationally-- and against a $50 million production budget, don't be surprised when Paramount announces a sequel in the coming months.

Money talks in Hollywood. Leads Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton are contracted for two more films, plus Renner's growing popularity thanks to The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy, means a sequel is a no-brainer at this point. No telling whether Tommy Wirkola will return to direct (or who will write), but expect the sequel to get fast-tracked for first quarter 2015.

    Weekend Box Office: March 15 - 17

    Courtesy of Box Office Mojo:

    1.  Oz The Great and Powerful - $42.2 million

    2.  The Call - $17.1 million

    3.  The Incredible Burt Wonderstone - $10.3 million

    4.  Jack the Giant Slayer - $6.2 million

    5.  Identity Thief - $4.5 million

    6.  Snitch - $3.5 million

    7.  21 and Over - $2.6 million

    8.  Silver Linings Playbook - $2.5 million

    9.  Safe Haven - $2.4 million

    10.  Escape From Planet Earth - $2.3 million

Audiences were still off to see the Wizard, as Oz The Great and Powerful celebrated its second weekend in the top spot, with an estimated $42.2 million.  The dropoff is less than half from last week, which is some excellent staying power, and is currently 2013's top grosser with $145 million so far.  The film is also a hit overseas, where it has grossed $136 million.

Halle Berry had good reason to smile this weekend, and not just because she's coming back to X-MenThe Call, which was shellacked by critics, exceeded expectations with a surprisingly good $17.1 million.  Considering the string of flops that Berry has had in recent years, it's nice to see her come back with a hit.

Good news was not so much the case for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which bombed this weekend with only $10.3 million.  Having Steve Carell and Jim Carrey face off as competing magicians seemed like a potentially hilarious idea, unfortunately, it appears the final result just didn't pan out, as the comedy earned a weak "C+" Cinemascore from audiences.

In limited release, Spring Breakers earned $270,000, and that was just in three theaters.  Starring Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and current Wizard of Oz James Franco, the film goes into wider release next week.  Competing with that will be the animated caveman tale The Croods, the Tina Fey comedy Admission,  and the action thriller Olympus Has Fallen.
