    New "Pacific Rim" Banner

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

    CinemaCon Footage from The Wolverine

Courtesy of AMC Theaters, here is the footage from The Wolverine that screened at CinemaCon last month.  It's just a minute long, but it's got lots of ninjas (seriously, lots of ninjas), explosions, impressive leaping, a bullet train, motorcycles, a shirtless Hugh Jackman (hello, 3D!), plenty of adamantium-clawed badassery...and whoa, is that the Silver Samurai??

Cool.  The Wolverine arrives in theaters in all of its 3D-glory on July 26th.  Any questions?  Just ask Hugh Jackman, who will be hosting a live Q&A chat via Twitter at 12pm EST tomorrow.

Trailer for VIOLET & DAISY Promises Psychedelic Hit-Girls.

The trailer for Oscar winner (Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" By Sapphire) Geoffery S. Fletcher's Violet & Daisy has shown itself online, despite being filmed in 2011, and promises a violent dark trip that promises some sweet visuals, and probably a really sad ending.

The film stars Oscar-nominee, Saoirse Ronan (HANNA, The Host, Atonement) and Alexis Bledel (Tuck Everlasting, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Sin City) as two assassins, Violet and Daisy, who come across their hardest and most strange mission yet when they meet a mysterious man, played by James Gandolfini (Zero Dark Thirty, 12 Angry Men, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil).

The film marks Fletcher's directorial debut.

Bryan Singer Gets Wolverine a New Jacket

Another day, another Twitter update from Bryan Singer regarding X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is shooting now in Montreal.  The latest is a peek of how Wolverine's new leather jacket looks on Hugh Jackman:

That's nifty.  And it sure looks a lot like the jacket that Logan is wearing on the cover of the original Days of Future Past comic:

So that's even more nifty.  And I guess we can just assume that all of that green screen means that something apocalyptic will be going on in whatever that scene is going to be.

Also, if you'd like to ask Hugh Jackman his thoughts on all of this, he's going to be hosting a Twitter Q&A this coming Thursday at 12 noon EST, presumably to promote this summer's The Wolverine, but I'm sure a few Days of Future Past questions will sneak in there as well.  It couldn't hurt to try!

THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH Finds It's New Harry Potter

The latest Harry Potter film, 2012's Harry Potter and the Haunted Mansion The Woman in Black, made $130 million worldwide off of a modest budget of about $15 million. Now, this doesn't usually mean that there's a sequel, since studios care about the product not the cash, especially when it comes to horror films, It's been announced that The Woman in Black: Angel of Death has found it's leads.

The Hollywood Reporter broke that fresh off of the wildly acclaimed Spielberg film Warhorse, Jeremy Irvine, will play the lead role opposite Phoebe Fox.

"Jeremy and Phoebe are fantastic actors to continue The Woman in Black’s chilling tale.  I’m looking forward to working with them both on the film and can’t wait to start shooting with the pair."

Director Tom Harper (The Scouting Book for Boys, The Swarm) said of the two.

Here's what to expect story-wise from this follow-up:

The sequel will continue the story four decades later.

Seized by the British government during World War II, the sudden arrival of a group of evacuated children at Eel Marsh House awakens its ghostly inhabitant.

What do you all think? I didn't mind the first film, and thought it was pretty well made and somewhat chilling. Here's hoping lightning can strike twice.

This Is Not a Joke: Die Hardest Is the Title of Die Hard 6

The social experiment of how long can Bruce Willis keep this up continues.

Not sure A Good Day to Die Hard made enough dough for Fox to cough up Die Hard 6. But like any development deal, commissioning a screenwriter is the cheapest part of the process. It doesn't mean a thing. Even for a brand-name as tired as this.

The studio pegged Ben Trebilcook (currently penning a "videogame-themed actioner" Knockout) for Die Hardest. Yes for John McClane's sixth, let that settle in for a moment his sixth, case of being the right guy in the wrong place at the wrong time is called Die Hardest. This time the mayhem goes from New York to predominantly Tokyo. If the Japanese thought Godzilla and Mothra were bad, wait till they meet McClane?

I just realize that will be a line of dialogue, won't it?

Listen to Excerpts of Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel Score

There was plenty to like in the last Man of Steel trailer. But getting our first listen at Hans Zimmer's new score was a highlight. It brought the thrill of Superman without reminding us of the iconic John Williams score.

The soundtrack doesn't hit shelves until June 11 (the week of the film's theatrical release) but Amazon has released excerpts online. It's not Williams quality judging by these snippets nor is it close to John Ottman's underrated work for Superman Returns. Just gotta remember these are excerpts from the tracks.
