The Summer 2012 Predictions Results Show

Sorry TDKR, your time is up and the books are closed.

Back in April, Kristina, Jamie, Phil and Shawn Robbins of BoxOffice.com placed their bets on the specific domestic box office grosses of the Summer 2012 movies (or at least the ones we though bore mentioned, which embarrassingly did not include 'Ted') and it's time to see who has won, and who was so badly beaten that they will never do this again.

But your imaginary money is on the line too because YOUR predictions have been tallied up as well and we have picked a 'Web Winner' for each film.  Enough stalling; let the games begin:

    6:05 mins - The Avengers
    13:35 mins - Dark Shadows
    21:45 mins - The Dictator
    25:05 mins - Battleship
    29 mins - Men In Black 3
33:45 mins - Snow White & The Huntsman
    39:35 mins - Prometheus
48:55 mins - Rock Of Ages
    53 mins - Brave
    58:45 mins - G.I.Joe Retaliation
    61:20 mins - The Amazing Spider-man
69:30 mins - Ice Age: Continental Drift
71:40 mins - The Dark Knight Rises
    78:35 mins - Total Recall
80:10 mins - The Bourne Legacy
    89:40 mins - The Expendables 2

Movie Moan - The Summer Ends With An Urp

You'll all be doing it tomorrow.

Tom Hardy's performance in 'Lawless' is at once brilliant and captivating, and also apparently the source of the next internet meme as he is unable to end a single sentence without burping like a frog.

On top of Jamie explaining what the hell that's all about, we end the summer in a big way with our final pieces on the summer blockbusters of old by giving you three of them in one show.

7 mins - How Marvel Studios turned a prop into a piece of merchandise into a lawsuit.

11:35 mins - Kristina and Jamie review 'Lawless' aka 'The Good, The Bad & The Urp'.

24:45 mins - Jamie chooses his final classic summer movie of the season - 'Die Hard 2: Die Harder' (1990).

44:15 mins - Kristina follows up with her final choice - 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day' (1991).

72:15 mins - Ed ends the summer with his choice - 'X2: X-Men United' (2003).

Movie Moan - Our Top Five Favorite Films

No elaborate title is needed for this week's show as the original, classic Movie Moan line-up of Jamie Williams, Queen Kristina, Capt. Ed Hocken, Lou Sytsma, and Phil Gee each take turns to run down their own personal top 5 favorite films.

If you thought coming up with a top ten was hard, it's nothing compared to having to drop some amazing films from that list just to get it down to a top five.  The films that remain are all extremely special to us for personal reasons.

So join us and find out, and then don't forget to share you own in the comments section.

Movie Moan - Jeff Katz And The Acolytes Of Nolan

We've been called some things on our show but this is the first time the phrase 'fanboys', 'nerds' or 'drooling fanboy nerds' wasn't enough.  Apparently our love for 'The Dark Knight Rises' is some form of religious delusion, bordering on cultish and Jeff Katz is here to spread the word of truth.

After that very memorable episode where we spent the first 15 minutes talking about fast food, producer, writer, studio executive, and now director Jeff Katz has returned to Movie Moan against all odds for another bout of random insanity.  Let's see what we have in store for him, and for you, this week:

7:15 mins - Jamie and Phil deliver their much anticipated review of 'The Expendables 2'.  Are we in for another epic rant from the latter?

25:55 mins - The crew (including the welcome return of Queen Kristina) reflect back on the summer blockbusters of 2012 and each pick our biggest let down, leading to Jeff tearing down 'The Dark Knight Rises' for all its worth.  Once he's done, Phil takes his own shot at 'The Bourne Legacy'.

50:10 mins - In the only news story of last week that mattered, we mull over the future of the potential 'Snow White & The Huntsman' sequel, and indeed Kristen Stewart's career.

Note: Just in case it's on your mind, we recorded this show on Sunday 20th August per our usual routine before the tragic news on the passing of Tony Scott, hence why it isn't covered here.  However, Jamie has written a post on it which you can find here and has said all that needs to be said.

Movie Moan Bonus Feature - An Evening With Jeff Katz

We couldn't let Jeff leave this week's podcast without taking full advantage of him (though not in that way).  He's been kind enough to join our regular routine of news, reviews and general bull so we thought it was only fair to spend some time talking about him.

So join us for a very candid discussion covering such topics as Jeff's tenures at 20th Century Fox and New Line Cinema (working on such projects as 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' & 'Freddy vs. Jason'), the current state of horror films and remakes, his upcoming projects such as the remake of 'Girls In Prison', and the truth of Bruce Campbell and why 'Freddy vs Jason vs Ash' didn't make it to the screen.
