First Trailer "Operation Endgame"

A group of misfit spies all kicking one another's asses, that's about all you need to know about this. It doesn't actually look very good, but I'm a big fan of Rob Corddry and Zack Galifianakis who play two of the quirky spies, so I'll give it a chance.

It's almost too bad this was made on a small budget and its only receiving a limited release later this month. If done right this could have been a hilarious action comedy. But I guess studious are sick of gambling with unproven and untested original material.

Also appearing in the pretty much direct to video limited release is Emilie de Ravin, Ving Rhames, Ellen Barkin, Odette Yustman, Maggie Q and Jeffrey Tambor.

"The Green Hornet" International Trailer

The good folks over at ScreenGeek, have released the trailer to "The Green Hornet". I have never heard of ScreenGeek but I like the site. The international trailer for "The Green Hornet" on the other hand, not so much.

The more I see of this movie the less I like it, and I didn't like what I saw in the first place. I guess that means it hasn't been a giant drop for me, more like a slow descent.

I don't see how this flick resonates with the general public. I like Rogen, I like the idea of "The Green Hornet" but I see the general public flocking the other way on this one. Let's hope I am wrong for the sake of Geeks everywhere.

"Scream 4" Set Pics

A new site on the block called BeforeTheTrailer.com has released some set pics from "Scream 4". There are some shots of Courtney Cox's and Neve Campbell's chairs as well as Wes Craven doing some directorial things. Not all that exciting, but a full functioning set nonetheless.

We all know how this is going to pan out and it will all start with Neve Campbell's character getting slashed and mashed in the opening sequence. Check out some of the photos below or head over to the site above for the rest.

"What's Your Number?" Continues Boston Shoot

Any chance I get to pimp my hometown I'm going to do it. Call it a conflict of interest if you want, but it's not like I am painting my face or anything. "Gotta support the team."

"What's Your Number?" starring Anna Faris and Chris Evans has been filming in and around the Boston area the past several weeks.

According to the Loaded Gun, a scene with Faris riding a bike and wearing a pink bridesmaid gown was  filmed in the Back Bay on Boylston street. There were also crews filming in the vicinity of The State House at the 21st Amendment Bar.

Previously, there was a huge wedding sequence being shot at an estate in Cape Ann and additional scenes shot in Gloucester at Good Harbor Beach. Head over to the Loaded Gun for additional information on upcoming movies shooting in and around the Boston area.

If you are interested in seeing Anna Faris completely naked while filming one of the scenes in Boston for "What's Your Number?" then venture over to What Would Tyler Durden Do.

Stalking Wayne & Garth

I'm reading yet another Robert B. Parker mystery featuring my favorite detective, Spenser, when I see Wayne and Garth flashing across the television in the background on the local news. Apparently there are rumors floating around that "Wayne's World III" is filming and they were caught on Google Maps!

The picture shows Wayne and Garth with an unknown female presumably between takes of "Wayne's World 3". Stop. I don't know what to make of this, but it sure is damn funny. Guerrilla marketing? I would say no, but if it was, smart move.

Most likely Dana Carvey and Mike Myers are heading to a birthday party to entertain a mass of six year olds similar to that scene in "Ghostbusters 2". Considering their career paths, that doesn't seem that much of a reach.

Party time at 6 Headland Park, Plymouth, United Kingdom.

What the hell, Fox?!

Just when I was starting to feel cautiously optimistic that things were going all right on X-Men: First Class, rumors are flying that Fox is quite possibly still up to their interfering ways.

Case in point:  Benjamin Walker's casting as Hank McCoy/Beast.

A few weeks ago, it was reported by the NY Times that Walker was offered the role in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men prequel.  While it doesn't appear that the casting was ever officially confirmed, it seemed like a done deal, or at least close to it, anyway.  He even mentioned he was doing the movie during an appearance on Live With Regis & Kelly last month while he was promoting his off-Broadway hit, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.

Well, what a difference a few weeks (and a few summer box-office bombs) makes at Fox.  Showbiz411's take-it-with-a-grain-of-salt Roger Friedman is reporting that Fox, most notably Tom Rothman, who seems to hate the X-Men even more than Magneto does, ditched Walker's casting as Beast in favor of a younger, more Twilight-esque hottie for the role.  They apparently even checked the availability of Taylor Lautner.

With Lautner unavailable, and the screen tests of other actors failing to impress the studio, Fox decided to just re-offer the role to Walker.  However, Walker has reportedly done the right thing by giving the studio the finger and signing up to reprise his title role in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, which is set to transfer on Broadway later this year.

How ridiculous.  First of all, good for Benjamin Walker.  I didn't get the chance to see him in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, but I heard amazing things about his performance and I think he made the right choice by sticking with a job where he won't risk getting replaced in favor of a shirtless Twilight model.  I'll definitely be checking this out when it comes to Broadway.

Most importantly:  X-Men does not need to be Twilight-ed.  Ever.  If Fox is really concerned about the survival of this franchise, they just need to take a good look at how this series has gone downhill by pulling crap like this.  And I don't even hate X3 or Wolverine with the venom that a lot of fans do.  But this franchise deserves far more respect than it's gotten.

X-Men's audience isn't screaming teenage girls, nor should it be.  Right now they've got Matthew Vaughn directing, Bryan Singer back on board as a producer, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender set to star (who, I might add, are plenty nice to look at, as was Walker), and it looks like they had a really good thing going by casting a rising star in the theater world.  Should someone remind them that Hugh Jackman was also a musical theater star when he was cast as Wolverine?  That seemed to work out well for everyone involved, didn't it?

Please Fox, don't screw this up.  We don't want a mindless Twilight-wannabe posing as an X-Men film.

Interational Poster for Piranha 3D

Latino Review has posted the international poster to the film that is sure to make Steven Spielberg blush, Piranha 3D.

All sarcasm aside, I am honestly excited for this flick. By its name, poster and synopsis it already tells you that this is an asinine concept but we are going to do it anyway. The poster has clearly drawn inspiration from the original Jaws poster and gives the only explanation you probably really need.

I saw a trailer of this attached to a 3-D movie at some point last year and it looked awful in that format. Hopefully they smooth it all out to make a fine looking film. I'll certainly be catching the 2-D version if the trailers continue to look like my five year old nephew made them.

Virginia Madsen Joins Red Riding Hood

Virginia Madsen has joined the cast of another classic tale re-imagined, Red Riding Hood.

Taking place in a medieval setting, the supernatural thriller will be hitting theatres next year in March. Madsen joins what already looks to be a formidable cast in Lukas Haas, Shiloh Fernandez, Julie Christie and Gary Oldman.

Reading more on this take of the story, Warner Brothers is asking for something along the lines of a Twilight styled romance with the supernatural elements woven throughout. There has also been talk of the film taking a much darker tone, almost to the extent of horror but the two styles being bounced around don't seem to cooperate into a cohesive unit at this point.

I'm beginning to picture some similarities with M. Night Shyamayan's The Village. If they take that route I think this could be a really interesting version of the beloved children's tale.

A 'Star Wars' Reboot - Just Consider It For A Minute

So I'm reading Total Film today and come across a feature about a 'Star Wars' reboot.  I don't click on it because I think this is some news exclusive that I missed (I'm gullible sometimes but not that much).  I just look at it out of curiosity expecting nothing more than a bit of pointless fan fiction fun.

But after finishing their article, I have to say that they've actually got me thinking a reboot of the entire 'Star Wars' saga on film, wiping the slate clean, could actually be an extremely exciting prospect with the right talent behind it.

Think about it this way.  There are some people who perfectly enjoy the six films series for what it is, regardless of its flaws.  There are people who pretend the prequel trilogy doesn't exist and wait patiently for the original versions of Episodes IV,V & VI to be released on Blu-Ray.  And there are people who feel that the prequels, with all the glaring continuity errors they bring into the later episodes, have forever tainted the entire saga.  Personally, all I will say is that people can tell me 'Star Wars' is still popular but if the prequels had worked, it would still be a yearly multi-billion dollar industry.  I hate to say it but that sounds like something Mr Lucas may like to see again in his lifetime.

Of course it is unlikely but all I am saying is not to eliminate the possibility that, say in ten years time, once George is out of ideas for television series, home media formats to double dip on, has tinkered with the films to the point that even he is bored and has converted them to 3D, he may be open to starting the series from scratch with a fresh batch of talent let loose and working from his basic mythology with the appropriate reverence.

Regardless of whether it happens or not, my mind is spinning about it.  When 'Star Wars' works, there is nothing cooler on Earth.  When 'Star Wars' is popular, there is nothing that can equal it.  If a reboot was good enough to repair the damage done by the prequels, tell the complete story that the fans expected the last time out and actually make us fall back in love with the thing, it will be so glorious that I will well up with tears.  Do you remember back to your first reaction to the 'Phantom Menace' trailer?  Don't you wish you could feel that way again about 'Star Wars'?

In any case, hop over to Total Film's article here and see what you think.

International Poster "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World"

Empire has released the new international poster for the hugely shit on across the board Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. I have to say though from the looks of this poster and all the trailers having been released, this actually looks like a pretty fun movie. I'm not expecting to be blown away or mind fucked, but being thoroughly entertained doesn't seem out of the question.

"Scott Pilgrim" centers on the carefree young man (Cera) who finds the girl literally of his dreams in Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). In order to win her over, he must defeat her seven evil exes, but can he do it? The cast for the 'epic' feature includes Ellen Wong, Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh, Alison Pill, Chris Evans and Jason Schwartzman. The comic book film blasts into theaters everywhere this August 13th.
