Before you shit your pants from sheer excitement, calm down. This is NOT a teaser for the Joss Whedon directed live action adaption due out in 2012. The live action adaption hasn't even begun filming yet.
This is a teaser trailer from Marvel studios for the upcoming animated series The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the new animated series is set to assemble in Fall 2010 on Disney XD. Is it just me or did Saturday morning cartoons just get awesome again!

In anticipation of the nationwide theatrical release of Neil Marshall’s latest thriller, Centurion, Magnolia Pictures has tapped renowned British comics artist Simon Bisley to create a one of a kind poster featuring the film’s main characters played by Michael Fassbender and Olga Kurylenko.
This is the first time Bisley has created a piece of art for a motion picture. He is best known for his 1990s work on ABC Warriors, Lobo and Sláine; his style, reliant on paints, acrylics, inks and multiple mediums, and takes inspiration from rock album covers and graffiti, as well as traditional comics art.
Centurion, a gripping survival thriller set in early AD Britain, finds Quintus, the sole survivor of a savage raid on a Roman frontier fort, joining General Virilus’ legendary Ninth Legion to march north and wipe out the terrifying tribes known as the Picts. When the Legion is attacked and Virilus seized, Quintus struggles to survive behind enemy lines with a small band of soldiers in a race to save their general and evade capture, torture and certain death.
Centurion stars Fassbender, Dominic West, Kurylenko, David Morrissey, Noel Clarke, Riz Ahmed, JJ Field, Liam Cunningham and Imogen Poots.
Magnolia Pictures will release Centurion on August 27, 2010; the film is also currently available VOD, VUDU, Playstation Network, Xbox Marketplace and Amazon.
Rest assured to those burning effigies over Chuck star Zachary Levi donning the red-and-blue suit. No woulda, coulda, shouldas. He ain't gonna be Superman. That manip is the closest you'll see to that happening.
It's not a surprising revelation (coming from Levi himself to two separate outlets – Buzz Sugar and IGN Movies) because the initial rumors from last month sounded dubious. Speaking to the latter, Levi elaborated on his reaction to first hearing those reports:
"I start getting these text messages from my friends, saying, 'What is going on? You didn't tell us any of this!' And I'm asking, 'What are you talking about?' I get this link emailed to me from my publicist. She goes, 'Just so you know…' I go check it out, and of course, on the bottom of that article there's all these comments, and every other article that spawned off of that and all the comments on those sites."
Levi wouldn't have been my choice, but I'll say this in his favor. He fits the criteria for who Warner Brothers/Legendary Pictures want as a spokesperson for the character whomever is ultimately cast (something they also had in spades with previous Man of Steel Brandon Routh) – a clean-cut good guy off camera who always a team-player and everyone got along with great.
His tall and lanky physic is a non-issue too. Levi's is about the same body-type Christopher Reeve was when Dick Donner first met (and initially dismissed) him. Li'l thing called "acting" won out and they made him fit into the role.
The fact that this isn't coming straight from his mouth gives me hope. We all know how Quentin Tarantino has a long and well-documented history of announcing his latest project, talking up a storm about its progress and then losing interest and moving on to something else. I love the guy and Inglorious Basterds was his masterpiece, but I can't honestly pay them much attention when he does that anymore.
So you'll find me (and everyone else in moviedom) quite surprised by what the rumor-mill says may be his next – The Shadow. The source comes courtesy of our pals at Pajiba and their go-to mole "The Hollywood Cog." Rumblings peg him as the director and, not surprisingly, writer too. Does that mean we'd end up with a script different from the one our very own Peter Georgiou reviewed back during our Inland Empire Strikes Back days?
None of us had any idea he was a fan of the character in any way, shape or form. But that's what I dig about him. There's just no way of knowing where his tastes lie. Remember when his list for the best films since 1992 including Woody Allen's Anything Else shoulder-to-shoulder next to stuff like Dogville, Fight Club and Team America?
Walt Disney Pictures have dropped an international poster for the forthcoming Sci Fi 3D bonanza "Tron Legacy."
It doesn't feature those awesome light cycles or some sexy Olivia Wilde posing, but it does feature Jeff Bridges as the first film's hero Flynn, looking a bit Matrixy.
I've never seen Tron and I am not convinced this can make enough money to cover it's massive budget despite being in 3D, however it does look very cool and I am hoping it succeeds mainly b/c I want the director Joseph Kosinsky to get a big budget for his next film "Oblivion."
If there's one actor over time who has been consistently overlooked and underappreciated for his talent, it's Kurt Russell. In every film I've seen him in, whether it be comedy (Overboard), action (Backdraft), sports-drama (Miracle), or just plain drama (Dark Blue), he's absolutely terrific. In recent years, Russell has been appearing in less and less films, but thankfully, a new pic of his is just about to roll.
Via The Trades, Russell is set to star in the football-drama, Touchback. The film, which starts shooting this week in Michigan, will be directed by writer/director Don Hanfield.
Russell will play a high school football coach whose once promising star player, played by Brian Presley (Home of the Brave), is thrust back into the fateful instant that left him critically injured and career cut short.
Melanie Lynsky (Up in the Air) and Christine Lahti (Obsessed) will also star.
Following up my story from last week regarding Henry Cavill landing the lead in The Cold Light of Day, The Trades are reporting that Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver have come aboard the project over at Summit-Intrepid Pictures.
Willis will play Cavill’s father, a man whose secrets lead to his family being kidnapped in connection with a government conspiracy and his son (Cavill) on a mission to rescue them. Weaver will play the mother.
The picture, being directed by Mabrouk El Mechri (JCVD), starts filming in Spain on Sept. 6th.
If you remember those stories from last year of Stephen Sommers being fired from G.I. Joe, locked out of the editing room and eventually brought back to finish it, this can be categorized as a surprise.
The Wrap reports Sommers will helm the G.I. Joe sequel for Paramount and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. No word on when production might get going, but previous remarks from di Bonaventura stated we’d get a follow-up by Summer 2012. So a start-date around a year from now sounds logical.
I'd like to think I'm above giving into nostalgia. I did grow up watching the cartoons on the USA Network, but everything leading up to the movie's release looked terrible. But damn if Sommers' flick wasn’t enjoyable. It was the animated series brought to life – loud, over-the-top and just plain stupid. But it embraced its inner retard (unlike the Transformers franchise) and most of us had kind words walking outta the screening room.
But, I wouldn't expect lightening to strike twice here. Even with Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick writing. My hunch is what everyone found endearing about Rise of Cobra will be frowned up for the next one – especially if they go in the "More of the same" route.
The big question, of course, is will Joseph Gordon-Levitt be dragged kicking and screaming to return as Cobra Commander?
In what is surely great news for 11-year-old girls everywhere, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that tween pop sensation Justin Bieber will be starring in his own 3D film next year. But this won't just be a concert film, as Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers have done before him. It will also be a biopic, detailing Bieber's life story thus far.
That last part is a bit of a WTF, seeing as how Bieber is only 16 years old and from the few times I've seen him on TV, I'm still not entirely convinced that his voice has dropped yet. It may just be me getting older, but I did spend several minutes trying to figure out who that little boy was when I saw him on the cover of a teen magazine a few months ago. But the kids love him, and I guess when the video for one of your songs breaks the record for the most views on YouTube, it's time for a 3D movie.
After leaving several virtually incomprehensible messages expressing his excitement via Twitter (yeah, he's definitely 16) Beiber did release an actual statement:
“When the idea for a movie first came to us, we knew immediately this was our chance to give something very special back to the all fans who have been a huge source of inspiration and support throughout my entire career thus far. They simply make my dreams come true everyday. I cannot wait to share all the great experiences I’ve had over the last few years with them.”
Oh, all right Justin...while I have no intention of seeing this movie, it seems you are indeed adorable.
Justin Bieber in 3Dwill arrive in theaters on Valentine's Day weekend, 2011.
I found a hilarious Harold and Kumar trailer re-done with Inception audio, and it actually works pretty damn good. As we speak a third Harold and Kumar film is actually being filmed for a holiday release either this year or next, no date has been set as of yet. The newest installment in the franchise will be called Harold and Kumar a Very Merry Christmas. For more details on the sequel you can go HERE.
Until an official trailer is released we at least have this to enjoy!
