Coming Soon went full on scoopage at this years American Film Market. Check out the posters below from "The Cold Light of Day", "The Gardener", "The Tree of Life", "The Iceman", "Man on a Ledge".
Relativity Media announced today that it has purchased film rights to best-selling author Michael Drosnin's "Bible Code" series, including "The Bible Code," "Bible Code II: The Countdown," both top New York Times best-sellers, and the newest in the series, "Bible Code III: Saving the World," which warns of the real Armageddon, but also tells how we can prevent it.
The series is based on a 3000 year-old code in the Bible found by a top Israeli scientist and confirmed by a senior code breaker at the US National Security Agency. It reveals momentous historical events, and predicts the future. The code has successfully predicted world events such as the election of President Barack Obama, the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The studio will develop the series of books into a tentpole film to be released in 2012.
Drosnin, a former reporter for the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, asserts that the code is real and continues to be accurate. He is also a three-time New York Times best-selling author. His Bible Code series is a global phenomenon, and his predictions draw interest from both believers and non-believers alike. Some read his books as novels, while others see his findings as worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.
"The Bible Code series has been one of my favorites since the first installment was published," said Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Relativity. "As a science junkie, realizing that the statistical probability that the code could be accurate is nearly impossible makes this an incredible story that must be told."

The Wagner/Cuban Company's Magnet Releasing, genre arm of Magnolia Pictures announced today that it has acquired US rights to Panna Rittikrai’s BKO: BANGKOK KNOCKOUT from Sahamongkol. Panna Rittkrai is a legend in Thai action cinema. The director of Born to Fight and fight coordinator for such classics as Ong Bak and Chocolate, he was the star of many action films in the 70s and 80s, and is famously a mentor to some of the top action superstars working today, including Tony Jaa (Ong Bak), Dan Chupong (Dynamite Warrior) and Jija Yanin (Chocolate).
BKO features a range of martial art disciplines. A group of 'fight club' pals whose styles vary from Muay Thai and Capoeira to Kung Fu and Tai Chi must fight for their lives when one of their friends is kidnapped.
"BKO is a bigger, badder, crazier BORN TO FIGHT, and further proof that Panna and Sahamongkol do death-defying action better than anyone," said Magnet SVP Tom Quinn.
"BKO is a pet project of our action choreographer, Panna Rittikrai and Magnet is the perfect partner to be working with in getting the movie released in the US," said Sahamongkol's Gilbert Lim. "We are very excited to be working together again on this action-adventure with amazing crazy stunts."
Magnet's Quinn negotiated the deal with Sahamongkol’s Lim. Magnet will release BKO in 2011.
Maya Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to Sympathy for Delicious, the feature film directorial debut from Mark Ruffalo, to be released theatrically in Spring 2011. The seven-figure deal positions the film as a key project in Maya’s first quarter 2011 theatrical release strategy.
Written by Christopher Thornton, who also stars in and produced the project, Sympathy for Delicious follows the true story of a newly paralyzed DJ who gets more than he bargained for when he seeks out the world of faith healing. The film also stars Ruffalo, Juliette Lewis, Orlando Bloom and Laura Linney and is based on Thornton’s real-life experiences. The film was produced by Corner Store Entertainment’s Scott Prisand, Matt Weaver and Andrea Sperling, with Mark Ruffalo and Christopher Thornton. The film was awarded a Special Jury Prize for Directing at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
Maya also has made a deal with Tom Ortenberg’s One Way Out Media to come on board as a marketing consultant on the project.
“After its successful premiere at Sundance this year, we’re so excited to be releasing this powerful and moving film and working with Mark Ruffalo on his award-winning directorial debut,” said Tonantzin Esparza, Director of Acquisitions for Maya Entertainment. “It’s an honor to collaborate with Mark on a project that has been so important to him.”
Ruffalo added, “This film has been a very personal project for me, and I know Maya will be a wonderful partner to have in our corner.”
Ruffalo will next begin production on Marvel’s The Avengers, in which he plays “The Hulk.” He joins Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johanssen and Jeremy Renner.
The deal for Sympathy for Delicious was negotiated by UTA Independent Film Group co-head Rena Ronson on behalf of UTA client Mark Ruffalo and Wendy Rutland, with Tonantzin Esparza on behalf of Maya Entertainment.
First up we have "just Go With It" starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.......ok for those of you that haven't already scrolled away (Yes BOTH of you!) this is not quite as lame as it could be, the trailer shows Aniston playing a different rom com character than her usual one as the pretend wife of Sandler's character who is using her to try and get Brooklyn Decker, no signs that in the end he gets with Aniston but don't be surprised if that is where this ends up.
Next up is the Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher rom com "No Strings Attached." Now this does a spot of role reversal where Kutcher's character is a player who is best friends with Portman's character and she comes up with the idea of them basically being fuck buddies, but of course you know that wont work out.
It's interesting that Portman's character seems to be in the mould of the role that would usually be the guy, but the fact Kutcher is in this kills my interest stone dead.
Last up we have something a bit more sophisticated for those who prefer their Oscar hopefuls to the rom com fluff. "The Way Back" is based on a true story about a group of escapees from a Siberian gulag in 1940. The film is basically their epic journey to freedom after they have escaped and it all looks very grand and worthy. Colin Farrell, Ed Harris and and Saoirse Ronan head up the cast.
UPDATE: I could do a separate post here, but fuck it. Tonight is officially "Spider-Man Reboot Casting Night!"
In addition to busting out President Barlet as the new Uncle Ben an hour back, Heat Vision also has word Sally Field is up for Aunt May. It's not as iron-clad as the Martin Sheen casting – the key words are "early talks" here. Her as Peter's loving-and-supporting aunt didn't jump out in one of "Of...COURSE!" fashions like Sheen, but I like it.
Also in news that will either cause cheers or groans (Have no idea how fans will react), The Wrap has reports Mary Jane Watson will not make an appearance. Word is the character not only isn't featured in the latest draft, but apparently was never there to begin with.
Honest to God, I liked Kristen Dunst in the Raimi films overall, i.e. not the third film. But I don't see any error in this call. Best to (re)start things with someone else for Peter Parker to pine over. If the reboot works and a sequel comes our way (which to, frankly, too early to even fathom), maybe then she could appear.
Still hesitant about the Spider-Man reboot and as I've frequently said, think Sony is over-estimating the appeal of the franchise's brand-name after the greatly-unpopular last film.
But the casting of Andrew Garfield as the new web-slinger is a big plus and getting fresh blood in charge (director Marc Webb) had to be done. I love Raimi, and what he did with the characters/universe. But his batteries were burnt.
We're only a month away from production starting and it's time to get roles filled outside of our hero, his main-squeeze (Emma Stone) and villain (Rhys Ifans).
Heat Vision has a big one – no, not J Jonah Jameson. Martin Sheen will play Peter Parker's Uncle Ben, the surrogate father whose death results in his path of becoming the wall-crawler.
Not much to say, to be honest, other than I find it to be excellent casting. Wondering if the plan is to include Uncle Ben via flashbacks for an already-established Spider-Man, or is this definitively going to be another origin story.
I'm spoiling you this week with a double bill but it's practically Christmas so what the hey.
All the evidence seems to suggest that I am the only person in the UK who didn't love 'Harry Brown' aka 'Punisher: The Later Years' but hopefully this video makes a good case for my opinion.
And I think you'll agree that the score for 'The Punisher' works spookily well with the film.
If you've ever been dumped, wanted to fuck the world over or gotten frustrated that beautiful people are never satisfied being with just one person, then 'Closer' is the film for you.

The hype machine for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is in full-force. First up, our friends at ComingSoon.net have posted a new clip of the Seven Potters transformation scene, in which Harry's friends attempt to sneak a still-underage Harry away from Privet Drive under cover of Polyjuice Potion:
The LA Times also has a new clip from the film on their site, which features Ron and Harry at The Burrow. You can see that here.
In other news, James Cameron is apparently none-too-thrilled about the film's aborted 3D attempt. Sigh. Whatever, James. Moving on...
This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, due to hit newsstands tomorrow, features a Deathly Hallows cover story (didn't they just do this a few weeks ago?). In this preview of the article, the EW staff looks back on 10 years of interviews with the Potter kids, plus they have some almost-freakish "morphing" videos of how the main trio have aged from the first film to the final film.
Have you picked up your Deathly Hallows tickets yet? You might want to plan ahead. Fandango is reporting that advanced tickets to Deathly Hallows are already selling at quicker pace than tickets to the previous Potter films, making up 61% of their daily ticket sales with upwards of 500 shows sold out. So if you want those IMAX tickets for opening weekend, you better get them now.
And if that's not enough Pottermania for you, select AMC Theaters will be holding a mini-marathon starting at 6pm on November 18. For just $20, fans will be able to enjoy the previous two Potter films (Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince) on the big screen once more, and finish the night with the midnight screening of Deathly Hallows - Part 1. Sounds like fun.
