Four New "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" TV Spots

An origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Four Clips & Five TV Spots For "Cowboys & Aliens"

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

"Walking Dead" Sneak Peak

Last night's season premiere of AMC's Breaking Bad included a quick look at a scene from season two of The Walking Dead, which will premiere in October.  When last left our dwindling number of zombie apocalypse survivors, they were escaping after the destruction of Atlanta's CDC headquarters.

As you can see in this minute-long preview featuring Andrew Lincoln's Sherriff Rick Grimes, two zombies, and a rock, their situation has definitely not improved:

Man, I love this show.  Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman tells The Hollywood Reporter that the second season of the show will move the main action from the city to a more rural setting, including the farm featured in the comics and some guaranteed zombie creepiness in the woods.

There will be a Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con this coming Saturday, so hopefully we'll be getting some more details and even another clip from the next season soon.  Because October still seems like a long time away.

"X-Men: First Class" Blu-Ray Announcement

I literally was just talking about the "X-Men: First Class" release date with Jamie this morning wondering when this flick would hit the home media market, here we are. Crave Online has the scoop on the cover art which you can view below which you can hold in your hand via DVD or Blu-Ray on September 9th.

Fox is pulling a page from the "Twilight" series by requesting that the fans choose a side when purchasing the Blu-Ray or DVD. Sounds a little bit like the "X-Men: The Last Stand", Who will you stand with? campaign. Nevertheless, Fox is encouraging the fans stand with either Professor Charles Xavier or Erik Lehnsherr by including t-shirts for the first 1000 fans who pre-order the movie during Comic Con. Check them out below. Team Charles or Team Erik?

The Brothers Warner Are Proud Of Harry Potter

The four-eyed juggernaut known as Harry Potter destroyed all competition and shattered records at the box office in the last installment of the much loved series. Of course The Brothers Warner were just as geeked up about the performance of the movie as fans were to see the flick. So what did the studio do? They threw out a press release tooting their own horn, and they have every right to.

With an astounding estimated worldwide box office total of more than $476 million, Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” shattered multiple domestic and international box office records in a history-making opening weekend. The announcement was made today by Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution, Dan Fellman, and President of International Distribution, Veronika Kwan-Rubinek.

The finale of the globally beloved film series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” earned a stunning $168.5 million at the domestic box office, which not only is the biggest Harry Potter opening weekend but also obliterated the industry’s opening weekend record, including holiday weekends. Among the other records broken were single-day box office (Friday at $92.1 million), Friday box office, and opening day box office.

Opening day-and-date in 59 territories, the international box office take was a staggering $307 million, making it the biggest international weekend of all time. Led by record-breaking grosses in the UK ($36.6 million) and Australia ($26.7 million), all markets have performed exceedingly well, including Germany ($25.7 million), France ($23.9 million) and Japan ($21.5 million).
Globally, it also broke the IMAX opening weekend record with a worldwide gross of $23.5 million, which includes setting a new record in North America with $15.5 million.

The film began breaking records even before its opening, as unprecedented advance ticket sales gave the first indication of just how huge the box office bow would be. Midnight opening screenings not only met but exceeded those expectations, with $43.5 million at the domestic box office alone.
Dan Fellman stated, “These numbers are amazing, but they are only part of the story. It is impossible to quantify how thrilled and grateful we all are that both critics and audiences — especially loyal Harry Potter fans — continue to support the film. This is the culmination of an extraordinary decade, and a reflection of the hard work and dedication of many, many people on both sides of the camera, beginning with the brilliant J.K. Rowling, as well as producer David Heyman. We applaud them all.”

Veronika Kwan-Rubinek remarked, “Harry Potter is truly a cultural phenomenon the world over. Whether in German, French, Japanese, Russian, or any language, international audiences have embraced the Harry Potter films over the years, with the powerful finale punctuating just how special the property is. We congratulate everyone associated with the films on this monumental achievement.”

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” is the final adventure in the Harry Potter film series. In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Is OK

Props to Collider whose trailer description (which we didn't post because, fuck it, we opted to wait to see the damn footage instead of talking about it!) gels with the real McCoy.

The Internet hysteria, also known as the marketing for The Dark Knight Rises, went to 11 last week with the promise of both a teaser one-sheet and trailer. Well we got the former and fanboys naturally lost their mind. Because it was for a Batman movie and from Christopher Nolan, the idea of having the Bat symbol in any form was praised as "genius." Eh, it looked good, yes. But I didn't lose my mind over it. It was a teaser, and it did its job. It teased.

Which, of course, leads us to the big jalapeno of everyone's first real look at footage from the third, and final, Nolan-helmed, Christian Bale-starring Batman epic. Here it is, via Coming Soon.

My reaction is the same as the teaser one-sheet. It's alright, but nothing to go ape-shit over. But once again, it's a teaser and it ultimately did its job. It teased! Certainly showed more footage than I thought it would last week.

Thorin Oakenshield Revealed From "The Hobbit"

I read the book so long ago that I can't remember any of these characters, but if anybody does, it is the good people over at TheOneRing.Net. The site has the first picture of Thorin Oakenshield from the upcoming "The Hobbit". See the photo and description below.

As a young Dwarf prince, Thorin witnessed the destruction and terror wrought when a great fire-breathing Dragon attacked the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. After slaughtering many of Thorin’s kin, the great serpent, Smaug, entered The Lonely Mountain and took possession of its vast store of gold and jewels. No-one came to the aid of the surviving Dwarves, and thus, a once proud and noble race was forced into exile. Through long years of hardship, Thorin grew to be a strong and fearless fighter and revered leader. In his heart a fierce desire grew; a desire to reclaim his homeland and destroy the beast that had brought such misery upon his people. So when fate offers him an unusual ally, he seizes the chance for revenge.

"Captain America" After Credits Sequence = Avengers" Trailer?

Marvel has made after credits sequences their thang the past several years and the upcoming "Captain America" flick is no exception. According to a loyal ComingSoon.Net/SuperHeroHype.Com reader the after credit sequence for Cap is a little bit more special because it seems to be a trailer for "Avengers"!

See the description below courtesy of ComingSoon.Net:

Just got back from an advanced screening of Captain America. Its a badass movie but that's not highlight of the movie, it's the after-credits scene. Or should I say trailer. That's right, the AVENGERS teaser trailer is shown after Captain America. It's about a minute long and you get glimpses of all the Avengers cept the Hulk (all wearing new costumes, including Hawkeye and Black Widow), a quick glimpse of Loki the supposed villain. Really quick trailer, AWESOME doesn't begin to describe it.

The breakdown of the after-credits scene from what I can remember:

Steve Rogers is in an empty gym throwing haymakers at a punching bag before finally punching it so hard it breaks off it's chains and (I believe) through the wall. Nick Fury walks in and says something along the lines of "getting ready for the enemy?" and Steve goes "Well it's been awhile

*I don't know word for word exactly what they said. I saw the scene around 8 and I'm writing this at 1:30a.m. So yea I'm a little tired.

Then we see quick snippets of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, Loki being escorted in "handcuffs" by SHIELD. After that it's a long shot of Thor rocking a new outfit reminiscent of his Ultimate garb (sleeveless) in front of some roundtable of SHIELD.

Then basically after that it's shots of action scenes with each character - Iron Man in what still looks to be his Mark 7 outfit getting ready to fire his repulsor beams, Cap in some sorta battlefield, Black Widow doing some flips and throwing darts, Hawkeye shooting an arrow, Thor summoning lightening, a shot of Bruce Banner taking off his glasses.

Then the trailer closes off with really quick action shots. Couldn't tell what they were, no actual clue as to who the villain(s) is/as we only see Loki. You don't really see a shot of all of them together though I could be wrong about that and missed it. Can't wait to see it hit the web and get some screen grabs.

Karl Urban IS "Judge Dredd"

Bleeding Cool has the second official image from the upcoming reboot of "Judge Dredd" helmed by Peter Travis. Is it bad that every time I hear or read the name Karl Urban I think he is a rough and tumble country singer instead of the acomplished stage, television, and big screen actor from New Zealand? Is it worse that I think director Peter Travis is a film critic for "Rolling Stone"?

Pretty cool shot of Urban as Dredd. Much more of a gritty and grounded look when compared to Stallone's glossy version. Not sure how much buzz if any there is for this flick, but I'm interested in checking it out and here's to hoping it's good.
