My Dear Stephanie - Short Film

Here at TMT we are at our core a bunch of movie fans, so when a fellow movie fan has a go at actually making a movie I take an interest.

Below is a brief sysnopsis and the short itself, the story is socially relevant and well wriiten and acted. It's worth 10 minutes of your time in my view.

* Note, it contains some strong language.

A desperate adolescent girl tries to find acceptance from her family and friends regarding her sexuality.

This Means War Poster And Pics

I really liked the trailer for this, but none of the fun or flair present in it are visible in the poster design which looks like a GQ cover, and the stills couldn't be less dynamic if they tried.

The film centers on two CIA agents (Hardy and Pine) who fall for the same woman (Witherspoon) and decide on a "best man wins" contest, they then go about trying to sabotage each others attempts to romance her using their CIA training and resources.

Promo For Justified Season 3

If you watch this hit FX show you'll know it's one of the best on TV. US Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) has more badass swagger than any cop since Dirty Harry, and his childhood friend turned some times nemesis Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) is one of the most complex characters on any show.

This promo really whets the appetite for the 3rd season, taking you in one direction before closing out with a twist that gets the adrenaline going.

New John Carter Pic and Interview.

insidemovies.ew.com

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So tell me about these White Apes in your film. They’re from the books, but I recall they’re not quite this ginormous?

ANDREW STANTON: No, they’re sort of an oversized gorilla in the books, and they’re kind of ubiquitous. They’re littered everywhere through at least the first several novels. They were always cool, just from a visceral standpoint, [but] they don’t really have a narrative function in the first book. So what we did is we made the White Apes a formidable creature that you kind of hear about throughout the movie, but you never really witness. There’s a subtle sense of anticipation for what these things might be like. Then Michael Kutsche — who did a lot of the designs on [the Johnny Depp movie] Alice in Wonderland – came up with this design on his own, for just their scale. He made them nocturnal, almost like moles — they stopped using their eyes, and just had a heightened sense of smell. We just love that. We needed a scene where Carter was going have to get out of his execution sentence in order to move the story forward, and we thought what better than having to go up against this formidable creature?

EW: How has John Carter come to find himself in this predicament?

AS: I don’t want to give any spoilers away, but basically he needs an army to solve his big problem in the third act, and the only army he knows was his previous captors. When he goes back, the game has changed, and he gets incarcerated. This is what he has to get out of. He has to get out of jail and not get killed by these apes in order to get his bigger problem solved.

EW:This picture might imply that he’s screwed, but he isn’t completely helpless, right? He’s got some skills?

AS: He’s not Superman. He has this one Superman-like ability where he can leap farther than we can here [on Earth]. But it’s like being a man on the moon. It can’t be forever. He can build up momentum. This green species called Tharks, they know his one special jumping ability, so they chain him to a rock. It’s entertainment. It’s entertainment to watch this execution. They give him a nice long length of chain, so he can bounce around, but he can’t go out of the arena. It’s an interesting problem to have for that guy.

EW:I’m sure John Carter is thinking right now, “This is a really interesting problem.”

AS:[Chuckles.] Right. And you’ve got these apes that can’t see, but they can smell really well. So it gives you a slight chance to not be killed immediately.

I've never read the books but that is a pretty badass visual right there, somewhat reminiscent of the awesome battle sequence in the Geonosis arena in Star Wars Episode II. The massive ape looks like a potential classic movie monster and crisply recreated, hopefully it moves well to keep up the sense of danger created by the image.

Star Trek Sequel Beaming into Cinemas May 17, 2013

Still don't have a title and don't know the status of any newbies boarding the iPhone-store Enterprise (outside of Benicio del Toro, upgraded to "In discussions" phase per MTV Movies Blog) but damn it if we finally have a release date for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel.

May 17, 2013, "TOLDJA" reports and hey, kids, it's going to be in 3D too! Looks like that What's Playing report on Abrams trying to play ball with Paramount's demands for lens flares in three dimensions was legit, not that any of us doubted it.

And Michael Giacchino is back on scoring duties, says Coming Soon. Go run along, children and eat your turkey while fanboys on the Internet masturbate to thoughts of del Toro as Khan.

It's Time to Start the Music: 12 Muppet-tational Moments

It would be tough not to realize that The Muppets opens in theaters today, since Disney has been promoting it just a tiny bit over the last few months.  For those of with The Muppets permanently embedded in our childhoods, this is a very welcome return of some old friends.  But it's hard to believe there's now a whole generation who've never seen The Muppet Show or watched a Muppet movie.

Well, it's time to remedy that.  For anyone who needs to catch up, here are some classic Muppet moments:

1.  The Muppet Show theme song

It's time to start the music, it's time to light the lights...this kicked off every episode of The Muppet Show during it's original run from 1976-1981.  It wasn't always the same every week, since Kermit would need to introduce the guest star, Statler and Waldorf would start the heckling from the balcony, and Gonzo's closing note would always end in catastrophe:

2.  The Rainbow Connection

This is the song that opened 1979's The Muppet Movie.  Still the best Muppets song of all time:

 3.  Mahna Mahna

It's possibly the silliest song and sketch in the world, but it's still funny as hell and you'll never get the song out of your head:

4.  "A bear in his natural habitat...a Studebaker":

Kermit and Fozzie headed out for Hollywood in The Muppet Movie with one of the best road trip songs of all time.  This clip also featured a Sesame Street cameo:

5.  The Muppet News Flash

Nearly every episode of The Muppet Show had a breaking news update...which usually broke the newscaster:

6.  Never Before, Never Again

Originally, Johnny Mathis was supposed to sing Miss Piggy's love song to Kermit in The Muppet Movie, but that was scrapped in favor of letting Miss Piggy do the song herself, with earsplitting results:

7.  Pigs in Space Meets Star Wars

The Muppet Show's "Pigs in Space" sketch was a spoof of sci-fi TV shows like Star Trek and Lost in Space, but when guest star Luke Skywalker (and his "cousin" Mark Hamill) dropped in with a few Star Wars friends, it led to the ultimate space sketch:

8.  The Swedish Chef vs. a Chicken

The Swedish Chef's unintelligible cooking segments usually ended in disaster, but this particular one led to (what else?) a running gag that ran through several more sketches:

9.  Muppet Movie Cameos

Cameos were a major part of the Muppet movies, and 1981's The Great Muppet Caper featured a wacky converstation between Kermit and Peter Falk:

10.  Muppet Labs

Dr. Bunsen Honeydew would present exciting glimpses into the future, much to the dismay of his assistant Beaker:

11.  Statler and Waldorf

Everyone's favorite hecklers would always give their opinions on the show:

12.  "Together Again"

In honor of The Muppets return to the big screen, a song from 1984's The Muppets Take Manhattan:

Well, hopefully that gives you an idea of the awesomeness of The Muppets.  Even before all of the parody trailers.  The Muppets is in theaters today - so go check it out!

New Prometheus Pictures Want to Have Their Cake & Eat It Too

For some reason, 20th Century Fox is adamant with keeping the "Is it or isn't it an Alien prequel?" charade going on Ridley Scott's Prometheus.

These scans taken from the forthcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly (courtesy of Shock Till You Drop) is keeping up with that approach. Stylistically similar to Scott's '79 sci-fi/horror classic but different enough to not be a carbon copy and still keeping with the mystery. A "mystery" from the looks of things Fox won't let up until next June.

My bitching aside, this does look cool though

See Andrew Garfield Swing for Whole Seconds on Amazing Spider-Man Set!

Another round of shooting is underway on The Amazing Spider-Man.

Splash News has footage of Andrew Garfield (still in that pre-Spidey/head-warmer & shades look) swinging around New York to accompany those set pictures from this weekend.

New Dark Knight Rises Details - Why It Sucks To Be Batman

Latest issue of Empire (dragging their ass to send my copy of last month's issue) is all about The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan's cherry-on-top capper to his Batman trilogy next July. Since the trailer will be in front of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows prints and the prologue glued to IMAX screenings of M:I 4, it's time for everyone to begin talking specifics while remaining vague.

Two big revelations come out of this. One, the big prologue will be all about Bane, baby, and two, its set eight years ahead of The Dark Knight. Guess that would explain those set pictures of Christian Bale rocking the grey in this hair.

Straight from the mouth of the One They Call Nolan:

"It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after The Dark Knight. So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state."

What we've heard, they're really pushing how being Batman is physically killing Bruce. As in those scars on his back ("Know your limits, Master Wayne…") aren't healing and just making it worse on our hero. To the point where he has to wear a more armor-heavy suit this time.

Coming Soon also got some meaty scans taken directly from the World's Biggest Movie Magazine including the exclusive subscriber only "Bane Titty-Twister" cover (see above) and him going all "You want a piece of me, Batman?" in what looks like the new Batcave.

The Great Gatsby Set Pics

Funnily enough my Dad just bought my Mom the Robert Redford version for Christmas, anyway this is the Leo DiCaprio version co-starring Carey Mulligan and Spider-Man, directed by Baz Luhrman. This will be at least the 3rd time this novel has been adapted but what the hell.

Celebuzz got the scoop on these set pics, check the best one out below of Leo Gatsby getting his swag on with Carey Mulligan at his side and check out the rest at the link.
